Christmas & New Year 2026–27 special trains (Goa, Kerala, Mumbai)
Christmas is Friday 25 December 2026. New Year's Day is Friday 1 January 2027. The busy seats are usually mid-December toward Goa and Kerala, then the return in the first week of January. Zones have not published a full 2026–27 extras list yet — last year the PIB note landed in mid-December — so this page is the hub we will fill as notices appear.
We will list notified Christmas and New Year special train pairs here. Typical extras run Mumbai CSMT or LTT to Karmali and Madgaon, LTT to Thiruvananthapuram or Mangaluru, and a few Delhi–south or Pune links. Last season the Press Information Bureau recorded 244 notified trips for Christmas and New Year 2025–26, mostly on Central and Western Railway. Those numbers are last year's. Do not book them as this year's trains.

PNR and live train status
Use PNR status on a Christmas & New Year ticket, and live train status once the special has left. This is not a government website.
- Indian Railway PNR status — 10-digit ticket number for CNF, RAC, waitlist, coach and chart.
- Live train running status — last reported station and delay. 0-prefix specials still track once the train has left.
- Cancelled trains today — extras do get pulled; check before you leave for the station.
Key facts
- Festival days: Christmas 25 Dec 2026, New Year 1 Jan 2027. Travel window we watch: 15 Dec–10 Jan.
- Notified 2026–27 specials: none on this page yet. Railway zones usually publish them from mid-November into December.
- Last year (2025–26) Indian Railways had notified 244 Christmas and New Year special trips by 18 December, with Central Railway 76 and Western Railway 72 of those trips.
- Until extras open, check regular Konkan and Kerala trains on IRCTC, then use PNR status and live train status once you have a ticket.
How to read the list
Each row is one pair. The first number is the outward train and the second is the return. Run dates show the first and last day the train operates, and a note like "twice a week" means it does not run daily, so check that your date falls on a running day.
The status column tells you how far we trust the entry. Confirmed means we have matched it with a railway notice and the schedule. Likely means it is on the notified list and the timings check out, but we have not seen it open for booking. Unconfirmed means it was reported and we could not verify it yet. Use the origin and destination filters to cut the list down to your route.
Train List
No notified Christmas & New Year 2026 specials are on this list yet. Railway zones usually publish extras closer to the festival. Regular trains on the corridors below are the fallback until those notices appear. Check PNR status after you book, and live train status on the journey day.

Booking
Open any train in the list below and note the number, then search that number on IRCTC with your journey date. Booking windows differ between specials, so IRCTC is the place to see when reservations open. Fares on specials are often higher than the regular train on the same route. If a special shows waitlist, look at regular trains between the same stations as a backup.
If IRCTC has no special on your date, look at the regular trains linked below — Mandovi, Konkan Kanya, Kerala Express, Mangala Lakshadweep and Netravati are the usual backups on these corridors. Tatkal on those follows the ordinary one-day-before clock.
